What we are actually trying to build.
A statement of intent, written for the long horizon rather than the current quarter.
Build enduringbusinesses, productsand brands with globalpotential.
Built to stillmatter later.
Most businesses are assembled to capture a moment; a handful are built to hold a position for decades. The difference is rarely the idea. It is whether the operator was willing to be slower and more particular in the early years. We are trying to build the second kind.
An ambition,stated as one.
We are starting in India, with the advantages and the constraints that come with it. Global, for us, is not a market we claim to serve today. It is a standard: build so a customer anywhere would judge the product on its merits. If that holds, the geography takes care of itself.
The measureswe care about.
Do people come back?
Repeat is the only compliment a customer pays with their own money, and the hardest to manufacture.
Would we sign our name to it?
Every product, page and package should be something we are content to be judged on in ten years.
Does it stand without us?
A venture that only works while we personally hold it together is not yet a business.
Is the company stronger?
Each venture should leave Vantedge better equipped for the next one.
